RESOLUTION NO. 15-04
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROFFESIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH
CNH ARCHITECTS FOR LINO LAKES FIRE STATION
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 14-73. adopted July 14. 2014. by the Lino Lakes City
Council. the City entered into a Professional Services Agreement with CNH Architects; and

WHEREAS, the during the design process the scope of the services was modified to include
additional service for increase in facility size, internal roadway design and additional site
evaluation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA:
1. That the proposal for additional architectural services is approved in the amount of $89.454.
Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 12th day of Januar . 2015.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member
Rafferty and was duly seconded by Council Member Stoesz and
upon vote being taken thereon. the following voted in favor thereof:
Rafferty, Stoesz, Kusterman, Reinert

Staff is requesting council authorization to amend the professional services agreement with CNH
Architects for design and construction administration of the Lino Lakes Fire Station.
BACKGROUND
The City retained the services of CNH Architects in July of 2014 to provide the site location,
design and construction administration services for the development of the new fire station. The
original contact amount of $129.000 was based on the initial concept of a 7.100 square foot
facility. Through the programming and schematic design phase a determination was made to
construct a 12.724 SF facility.
CNH has submitted a request for an amendment to the professional services contract to address
the additional services performed for the larger facility. design of an expanded internal road
system and additional site evaluation to ensure compatibility with future facility needs on the
property. The existing contract provides for an amendment to the contract to address changes in
project scope.
Staff has worked with CNH to reach a proposed additional fee of 589.454. The total revised
contract amount (less site selection) represents a design percentage of approximately 5.6% of
construction. which is within typical industry standards.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 15-05.

Description of Additional Service: The size of Fire House ;'2 has been increased from 7.100 square
feet as indicated in the RFP and original Owner — Architect Agreement to the current gross 'floor area of
12.724 square feet, a 79.2% increase in project size. Other additional services to be provided include
evaluating the selected project site to determine if other potential city facilities would likely fit on the
remaining portion of the cite owned property directly south of the fire station site. Finally. the services have
been expanded to include the design of the internal city road within the larger site to serve that fire station.
Fee: We propose the above work for an additional fee of S89.454, plus reimbursable expenses as stated in
the original project contract. This proposal fee is valid for 30 days from the date of this document.
Agreement: It is assumed that the terms of the original B1.01 Owner -Architect Agreement for this project
dated July 8. 2014. will he modified by the scope of work and fee adjustment indicated in this proposal. All
other agreement terms to remain as originally indicated.
Schedule: This additional service will not impact the project schedule indicated in the original agreement.
