The low bidder was Pearson Bros. at $97,559.00. The engineer's estimate for the project was $87,425.00. The difference in the engineer's estimate and the low bid can be attributed to a significant increase in the unit price for trap rock. The price of trap rock has increased over twenty percent from last year. Pearson Bros. performed the sealcoating project last year for the City. They completed the project on time and under budget. I recommend that the contract for the 2001 Sealcoating project be awarded to Pearson Bros. If you have any questions or need additional information please do not hesitate to give me a call.
