Home My WebLink About2001-125 Council ResolutionCouncil Member O'Donnell introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 01-125 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT — 2001 BITUMINOUS WEARING COURSE IMPROVEMENTS. WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construction of the 2001 Wearing Course project, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Contractor Amount of Bid North Valley, Inc. W.B. Miller, Inc. $88,530.50 $93,361.45 Engineer's Estimate $99,176.50 AND WHEREAS, it appears that North Valley, Inc., is the lowest responsible bidder: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: 1. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with North Valley, Inc., in the name of the City of Lino Lakes for the construction of the 2001 Wearing Course Improvements according to the plans and specifications approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk. 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed. The results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. Contractor North Valley, Inc. W.B. Miller, Inc. Engineer's Estimate Amount of Bid $88,530.50 $93,361.45 $99,176.50 The low bid is approximately 11% below the Engineer's Estimate for this project. A copy of the complete bid tabulation is attached. The funding for this work is provided by assessments to the respective subdivisions included in the project. OPTIONS: 1. Return to staff for further review. 2. Adopt Resolution Number 01-125, accepting bids and awarding a construction contract to North Valley, Inc. for the 2001 Bituminous Wearing Course project. 3. Not adopt Resolution No. 01-125. RECOMMENDATION: Option No. 2 - Staff recommends adoption of Resolution Number 01-125.
