HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-190 Council ResolutionCITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 01-190 RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 AND PAYMENT REQUEST NO.1 FOR THE TWILIGHT ACRES SANITARY SEWER EXTENSION IMPROVEMENTS. WHEREAS, the construction of the project has been substantially completed, AND WHEREAS, Volk Sewer and Water, Inc. has provided costs for the change in the work scope required by the well variances and the Minnesota Department of Health; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: Change Order No.1 and Pay Request No. 1 in the amount of $90,123.03 is approved for the Twilight Acres Sanitary Sewer Improvements project. Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 16th day of December, 2002. AGENDA ITEM 7A STAFF ORIGINATOR: James E. Studenski, City Engineer COUNCIL MEETING DATE: December 16, 2002 TOPIC: Resolution No. 01-190, Approving Change Order No. 1 and Payment Request No.1, Twilight Acres Sanitary Sewer Extension VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required BACKGROUND: At the September 10, 2001, meeting the City Council received the bids for the referenced project. The low bid was received from Volk Sewer and Water, Inc. in the amount of $257,373.50. Since that time the City has had to obtain the well variances from the residents. Not all the residents were cooperative and changes had to make to the plan design. The Minnesota Department of Health also required additional changes related to the locations of the existing wells. City staff has continued to move forward with the project due to the failing septic system issues that initiated this project which including receiving CDBG Funding and the costs already incurred by the city to this point. The Change Order addresses the change in quantities and bid items associated with the well variances and Minnesota Department of Health. It is staffs recommendation to approve Change Order No. 1, which results in a total project cost increase of $33,108.90 and authorizes Payment No. 1 of $90,123.03. OPTIONS: 1. Return to staff for further review. 2. Adopt Resolution Number 01-190. 3. Not adopt Resolution No. 01-190. RECOMMENDATION: Option No. 2 - Staff recommends adoption of Resolution Number 01-190.
