Plan

BACKGROUND:
At the April 5, 2000, City Council Work Session, we reviewed the May 1999 Access
Management Plan in detail. The City supported preparation of this study through direct cost
sharing and staff time spent serving on the Technical Advisory Committee. The study was
prepared to evaluate the ability of the CSAH 14 (Main Street) corridor to serve the local
communities and to connect regional transportation facilities now and in the future. It also
provides uniform guidance to local communities regarding access management. The main
goals as stated in the study were as follows:
• Maintain an acceptable level of mobility
• Reduce the potential for safety problems
• Promote appropriate property access
• Facilitate cooperation between agencies and jurisdictions for implementing the Plan
Anoka County is requesting that we formally adopt this access management plan and
incorporate its recommendations into our ordinances and review procedures.
