Home My WebLink About2000-060 Council ResolutionCouncil Member K01qintroduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 00-60 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO PERMIT THE LINO LAKES LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL TO CONDUCT GAMBLING AT THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 566, 7731 LAKE DRIVE — LINO LAKES WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes Council met at its regularly scheduled meeting of May 22, 2000, and WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes City Council discussed Lawful Gambling, and WHEREAS, the site is described as 7731 Lake Drive, Lino Lakes; and WHEREAS, it is owned and operated by the American Legion Post 566; and WHEREAS, authorization is granted to the Lino Lakes Lion's Club International to conduct lawful gambling on the above-mentioned premises, and WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes has conducted an investigation of the American Legion management team of Post 566; and WHEREAS, the American Legion Post 566 and Lino Lakes Lions Club International are compliant with City Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the American Legion Post 566 and the Lino Lakes Lions Club International appears to take into consideration the best interest of the City of Lino Lakes, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES approves the charitable gambling activity at by the Lino Lakes Lions Club International at the American Legion, 7731 Lake Drive, Lino Lakes. This is the Lions Club International's second time requesting permission to conduct gambling within the City of Lino Lakes. The Lions Club cancelled their first gambling permit in 1989 because of their lack of interest. In accordance with city ordinance the necessary members reside within the City of Lino Lakes, find attached a notarized list. The State of Minnesota is required to conduct background investigations and verify that all state requirements are met. Moreover, the state grants the final authorization to conduct lawful gambling. This application is good for the period of two years, at which time the Council may be asked to revisit the renewal application procedure. OPTIONS: 1. Approve Resolution 2000-60 2. Deny Resolution 2000-60 RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommendation is option 1
