CITY OF LINO LAKES
RESOLUTION NO.2000- 75
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION FROM THE CENTENNIAL FIRE RELIEF
ASSOCIATION FOR THREE (3) SETS OF TIRE DEFLATION DEVICES
WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes Police Department is currently operating
without a tire deflation system to aid in the stopping
of pursuits;
WHEREAS, Lino Lakes is a thirty-three square mile city which has
several main traffic arteries running through it
including I35W and I35E, which are commonly used by
fleeing suspects;
WHEREAS, in the past, officers have frequently been in position
where a tire deflation device could have been
implemented to aid in stopping or slowing the suspect
vehicle, therefore lessening risk to public safety;
WHEREAS, funding for a total of six sets of tire deflation
devices to equip duty squad cars was not part of the
2000 Department of Public Safety budget item;
WHEREAS, a grant was written and was accepted by the Minnesota
Department of Public Safety Office of Drug Policy and
Violence Prevention Tire Deflators Grant program. The
grant allows the Lino Lakes Police Department to
purchase three sets of tire deflation devices, two
hours of classroom instruction and two hours of
practical use with a set of training spikes. The Lino
Lakes Police Department is required to provide matching
funds;
WHEREAS, the Centennial Fire Relief Association has made a
donation in the amount of $1332.00 to the City of Lino
Lakes for the cost of three (3) sets of tire deflation
devices which meets our matching funds requirement; and
WHEREAS, the monies will be appropriated to the General Fund in
the following manner:
Increase Revenue - Contributions
Increase Expenditures -Police
Uniforms
$1332.00
$1332.00
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Lino Lakes
hereby accepts the donation of $1332.00 for the cost of three
tire deflation devices and wishes to express its gratitude to the
Centennial Fire Relief Association for its donation.
Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 14th day of August,
2000.

Accepting Donation from the Centennial
Fire District to defer costs to purchase
three sets of Tire Deflation Devices
Simple Majority
The Centennial Fire District has graciously donated
$1,332.00 to offset the cost to match funds for a grant to
purchase a total of six Tire Deflation Devices. The Lino
Lakes Police Department received a grant to purchase three
sets of Tire Deflation devices. Part of the grant
requirement is to provide matching funds. Centennial Fire
District is aware of this goal and has donated $1,332.00 for
the cost of the matching funds.
The purpose of Resolution 2000-75is to accept and publicly
thank the Centennial Fire District for their generous
donation.
OPTIONS
1. Adopt Resolution No. 2000 - 75accepting the donation.
2. Return the Resolution to staff for further information.
