City Council
Date May 5, 2009:
CONSENT
Item:
Motion
ITEM: Continuation of Consideration of Sign Ordinance to May 19 Council Meeting
SUBMITTED BY: Craig W. Dawson, Interim City Administrator
SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED: The City Council spent over two hours listening to a presentation
on the proposed new sign ordinance and asking for clarifications during the presentation. The Council decided
that it would continue its discussion of this item to its May 5 meeting. As staff considered the number of items
that must be on the agenda for the May 5 Council meeting and are also likely to result in lengthy discussion
among the Council, staff believed it would be more effective for the Council to conduct its business on May 5
by postponing the proposed sign ordinance to the May 19 Council meeting. Due attention to the proposed
sign ordinance should be more easily accomplished at the May 19 meeting, and a two -week delay is not
significant for the sign ordinance. The Council should take the formal action necessary to continue this item to
May 19, 2009.
SUGGESTED MOTION FOR CONSIDERATION
Move to continue discussion of the proposed sign ordinance to the May 99, 2009, meeting of the City
Council.
