<br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 2017-XXX A RESOLUTION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE GATEWAY CORRIDOR COMMISSION WHEREAS, the Gateway Corridor Commission (“Commission”) was established in March of 2009 by joint powers agreement among the county regional railroad authorities and cities along <br />the Gateway Corridor, pursuant to Minn. Stat. §471.59; and WHEREAS, the Gateway Corridor is defined as the transitway corridor originating at the Union Depot in downtown Saint Paul in Ramsey County, and traveling east along Interstate 94 (I-94) through Washington County with connections to other multi-modal transportation options; and <br /> WHEREAS, Commission members are elected officials from the Washington and Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authorities and the cities of Afton, Lake Elmo, Lakeland, Maplewood, Oakdale, St. Paul, Woodbury, and West Lakeland Township; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Commission is to collaboratively plan for multi-modal transportation improvements to the Gateway Corridor and for the related land use and development impacts; and WHEREAS, the Locally Preferred Alternative for the Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) <br />Project in the Gateway Corridor was adopted in December 2016; and WHEREAS, the Gold Line BRT Project is a planned 9-mile transitway running generally parallel to I-94, connecting downtown Saint Paul with its east side neighborhoods and the suburbs of Maplewood, Landfall, Oakdale, and Woodbury; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo entered into the Gateway Corridor Commission Joint Powers Agreement (the “Agreement”) and is a member of the Commission; and WHEREAS, Article 10, Section A of the Agreement provides that any party to the <br />Agreement may withdraw upon giving 90 days written notice to the Commission, evidenced by a resolution of the party’s governing body to the Commission; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo hereby gives notice of withdrawal from the Commission. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to prepare a certified copy of this Resolution and deliver it to the Chair of the Commission.
