CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />COUNTY OF WASHINGTON <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 08-067 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />THE THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE <br />CHAPTER OF THE BUSINESS <br />REGULATIONS TO REVISE THE <br />EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA <br />REQUIRED FOR A CITY LICENSE <br />FOR THE PRACTICE OF <br />THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE IN <br />THE CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />SECTION 1 The City Council of <br />the City of Lake Elmo hereby <br />amends Title XI: Business <br />Regulations; Chapter 114: <br />Therapeutic Massage, as follows: <br />§114.015 DEFINITIONS <br />As used in this chapter, the <br />following words and terms shall have <br />the meaning stated: <br />ACCREDITED INSTITUTION. An <br />educational institution currently <br />holding accredited status from the <br />North Central Association of <br />Colleges and Schools (NCA) or <br />another regional accrediting agency <br />approved by the United States <br />Department of Education or is <br />licensed or registered by the state <br />agency having jurisdiction over the <br />school. The accredited institution <br />must also be in compliance with the <br />National Certification Board for <br />Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork <br />or other nationally recognized <br />certification licensing organizations. <br />ACCREDITED PROGRAM. A <br />professional massage program <br />currently holding accredited status <br />by the Commission on Massage <br />Therapy Accreditation (COMTA), or <br />a comparable national or regional <br />organization which is approved by <br />the United States Department of <br />Education for its accrediting program <br />for compliance with quality and <br />competency standards through a <br />process of periodic peer review and <br />self -study. The accredited program <br />must also be in compliance with the <br />National Certification board for <br />Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork <br />or other nationally recognized <br />certification licensing organization. <br />§114.06 GENERAL LICENSE <br />RESTRICTIONS. <br />A.
