CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />COUNTY OF WASHINGTON <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 08-073 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE <br />LAKE ELMO CITY CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES BY ADOPTING <br />REVISED RURAL DISTRICT <br />STANDARDS AND ADDING A <br />NEW FIT RURAL DEVELOPMENT <br />TRANSITIONAL DISTRICT TO <br />THE ZONING ORDINANCE <br />Section 1: Ordinance 08-073: The <br />City Council of the City of Lake Elmo <br />has adopted Ordinance No. 08-073, <br />which incorporates revised rural <br />districts into the Zoning Ordinance. <br />The ordinance repeals the existing A <br />— Agriculture, RR — Rural <br />Residential, and RE — Residential <br />Estates districts and moves these <br />districts into the new sections; <br />renames the R-1 Single Family <br />District to RS Rural Single Family; <br />and adds a new FIT — Rural <br />Development Transitional District to <br />the Zoning Ordinance. The other <br />significant changes are as follows: <br />• The rural districts have been <br />reformatted using the new ordinance <br />numbering and organizational <br />scheme. <br />- The districts are better organized <br />using the urban districts as a guide. <br />• The rural districts now make use of <br />the more complete list of use <br />classifications and definitions <br />previously approved by the City, <br />- The area that must be set aside on <br />individual lots for septic drain fields <br />has been reduced from 1 acre to <br />20,000 square feet in order to match <br />the existing standards in RE — <br />Residential Estate districts. Two <br />treatment sites must still be identified <br />on each building site for a primary <br />and secondary system.
