CITY OF LAKE EL 0 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE 08-073 BY TITLE <br />AND SUMMARY <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo has adopted Ordinance No. 08-073, <br />an Ordinance that updates the City's rural district standards and adds a new RT Rural Development <br />Transitional District to the Zoning Ordinance; and <br />I I Le-Nmij M-1 I <br />WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the following summary would clearly inform <br />the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo, <br />that the City Clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No, 08-073 to be published in <br />the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: <br />The City Council of the City of Lake Elmo has adopted Ordinance No. 08-073, which <br />incorporates revised rural districts into the Zoning Ordinance. The ordinance repeals the existing <br />A — Agriculture, RR — Rural Residential, and RE — Residential Estates districts and moves these <br />districts into the new sections; renames the R-1 Single Family District to RS Rural Single <br />Family; and adds a new RT — Rural Development Transitional District to the Zoning Ordinance. <br />The other significant changes are as follows: <br />• The rural districts have been reformatted using the new ordinance numbering and <br />organizational scheme. <br />• The districts are better organized using the urban districts as a guide. <br />• The rural districts now make use of the more complete list of use classifications and <br />definitions previously approved by the City, <br />• The area that must be set aside on individual lots for septic drain fields has been reduced <br />from I acre to 20,000 square feet in order to match the existing standards in RE — <br />Residential Estate districts. Two treatment sites must still be identified on each building <br />site for a primary and secondary system. Please note that the County rules require 10,000 <br />square feet of area (5,000 for each of the primary and secondary sites) for drain fields. <br />• The existing provisions related to cluster subdivisions in A and RR zones have been <br />removed. <br />Resolution No. 20 1-3 - 18 <br />
