STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: January 2, 2024 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Karissa Goers, Administrative Services Director <br />AGENDA ITEM: Telework and AI Policy <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Currently, the City of Lake Elmo has no telework or artificial intelligence usage policy. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Should the attached policies be approved as presented? <br /> <br />DISSCUSSION: <br />These policies were discussed at the 12/12/23 city council workshop. Updates to the telework policy and <br />telework agreement have been made based on feedback from that meeting. The updates are redlined in <br />the attached documents and are as follows: <br /> <br />-Adding an emergency/short term telework option <br />-Requesting a photo of the home workspace as part of the approval process <br />-Updating the Conditions of Employment section to include information about worker’s <br />compensation, federal and state tax implications, and personal home insurance policy <br />requirements. <br />-Removing the requirement for remote workers to work during an emergency closing. <br />-Added clarifying language about teleworking outside of MN and WI. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />None <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br />1.
