STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: January 2, 2024 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Hire Community Development Director <br />SUBMITTED BY: Karissa Goers, Administrative Services Director <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The community development director position is vacant and the city has gone through a couple of <br />application cycles since May. We recently held interviews with department directors, qualified <br />candidates moved forward to a second interview with the Mayor, Council Member Holtz, the City <br />Administrator, and our planning consultant. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Should Jason Stopa be hired as the Community Development Director at the terms described below? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: <br />The recommendation is to hire Jason Stopa with a pay rate at grade 12, step 5. His tentative start date is <br />February 5, 2024. <br /> <br />Jason has over nine years of experience as a Community Development Director with St. Bernard’s Parish, <br />LA. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The Community Development Director position has been included in the 2024 budget to accommodate this <br />salary. <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br />1) Hire Jason Stopa as the Community Development Director at the terms described above <br />2) Offer the job to Jason Stopa under different terms <br />3) Offer position to another candidate <br />4) Re-advertise the position <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />If removed from the consent agenda <br /> <br />“Motion to hire Jason Stopa as the Community Development Director with a salary at grade 12, step <br />5.” <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />None
