STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: 2/6/2024 <br />CONSENT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Marty Powers, Public Works Director <br />AGENDA ITEM: Personnel Basket Purchase <br />REVIEWED BY: Clarissa Hadler, Finance Director <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo Public Works Department utilizes ladders, pole saws and <br />rental equipment to reach projects above head height. These projects include tree trimming, light bulb <br />replacement, sign installs, antenna adjustments/repair and garage door repairs. <br />To improve safety and efficiency to the department, adding a Personnel Basket to our existing <br />service/crane truck was planned as the need increased. <br />ISSUE BEFORE CITY COUNCIL: Should the Council approve the purchase of an OSHA approved <br />Personnel Basket for overhead tasks PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Proceeding with this purchase will benefit the city and its citizens <br />by completing the many overhead tasks more efficiently and safer. FISCAL IMPACT: Purchase of this installed Personnel Basket on our existing service truck, will be funded from the 2024 tools and small equipment operating budgets in Streets, Parks, Storm water, Water and Sewer. <br />OPTIONS: 1) Approve purchase of the Personnel Basket 2) Do not approve purchase RECOMMENDATION: If removed from the consent agenda: <br />“Motion to approve the purchase of a Personnel Basket to be installed on our existing service/crane truck at a cost not to exceed $15,000.” <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• Aspen Equipment (state contract pricing #229434)
