Members of the commission asked about the opportunity for community support through donations of additional benches, trees or other amenities feasible for a dog park. All commission members voted in favor of moving forward with the proposal set by staff with the options for donations from the community.
FISCAL IMPACT: The building of a Dog Park has been outlined in the 2024 CIP. As part of the CIP $25,000 was budgeted for the Dog Park Project which would come directly from the Parks Dedication Funds. Additional funds are available in the Park Dedication Fund to cover the additional expenses. If council does not want to exceed the amount identified in our CIP items would need to be cut from the project to reduce
spending.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff is in support of the motion made by the parks commission;
“Motion to recommend to city council the proposed purchases by city staff to construct a dog park at
4295 Jamaca Ave and to make requests for donations for additional benches, trees, and other amenities
where feasible.”
“Motion to approve the proposed purchases by city staff to construct a dog park at 4295 Jamaca Ave.”
