STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: 3/6/2024 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br /> MOTION <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Marty Powers, Public Works Director <br />AGENDA ITEM: Sale of Excess and Retired Tools and Equipment <br />REVIEWED BY: Clark Schroeder, City Administrator Clarissa Hadler, Finance Director <br />BACKGROUND: With the acquisition of new tools and equipment, excess equipment, other equipment that has reached the end of its useful life, Public Works has a surplus of assets that are no longer operational or needed to conduct city services. ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council authorize staff to publicly advertise and sell excess and retired city equipment consistent with the City’s Purchasing Policy? FISCAL IMPACT: Revenue generated by the sale of this equipment will be added to the Vehicle Replacement Fund and the General Fund. Below is a list of surplus items and parcels and the anticipated sale price. <br /> <br />2 Chainsaw $ 65.00 <br />A/C unit $100.00 <br />Bandit Wood Chipper $8000.00 <br />Partner Chop Saw $50.00 <br />Chemical Totes $25.00 <br />2004 John Deere Tractor w/plow and mowers $30,000 <br />2014 F250 $9,000 <br />2006 Sterling Plow Truck $26,000 <br /> OPTIONS: <br />• Approve sale of Excess and Retired Equipment <br />• Deny sale of Excess and Retired Equipment <br />• Discuss and amend the sale of Excess and Retired Equipment RECOMMENDATION: “Motion to approve the sale of Excess and Retired Equipment as detailed in the City’s Purchasing Policy”
