All fire <br />department staff are minimally certified as Emergency Medical Responders. All career staff are certified to the <br />Emergency Medical Technical level. The fire department provides Basic Life Support care. <br />The fire department transitioned to a full medical response profile in September 2023. Previously, the <br />department only responded to life threatening medical situations. In partnership with Lakeview Health <br />Emergency Medical Services (EMS) (our Paramedic Ambulance provider) the decision was made that in the <br />interest of public safety, the fire department was to respond to all medical emergency calls in Lake Elmo. <br />This, of course, aligned with our 24/7 staffing plan. <br /> <br />In 2023, the fire department responded to 652 of the total 756 medical incidents in Lake Elmo. <br />
