STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: 04/02/2024 <br /> Motion <br />TO: CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM: Pebble Park Playground Replacement <br />FROM: Adam Swanepoel, Assistant Public Works Director <br />SUBMITTED BY: Marty Powers, Public Works Director <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Pebble Park play set was originally installed in 1992 and has exceeded its lifespan. At the <br />December 2023 Parks Commission meeting, commissioners elected to move forward with <br />planning and design of a new play set at Pebble Park. Recommendations for Pebble Park were to <br />design a park to serve kids ages 5-12 years of age, incorporate a climbing structure with slides, <br />add additional benches or seating and incorporate a concrete boarder around the play area. <br /> <br />Three options were presented to the Parks Commission on 3/18/2024 with all commissioners <br />voting in favor of option 3. Commissioners recommended option three be consistent with the other <br />options by providing additional seating as part of the construction. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE CITY COUNCIL: <br />Would City Council like to approve one of the playset options to be constructed at Pebble Park? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: <br />Flagship Recreation has provided three options for a playset which incorporate the recommendations <br />made by the Park Commission. <br /> <br />Option 1: Offers a multiple tower structure with three slides and climbing cargo net. This area is <br />approximately 30x20 and will include seating areas. Total equipment cost for this project is $98,763 with <br />a total install price of $119,949. <br /> <br />Option 2: Offers a multiple tower structure with two slides and a separate Eclipse climbing net structure. <br />This are is approximately 45x40, includes seating areas and a Curva Spinner as an additional play option. <br />Total equipment cost for this project is $97,427 with a total install price of $119,945. <br /> <br />Option 3: A new Volo Product offered by Flagship Recreation. This structure offers two slides, interior <br />cargo net area, an interactive route map and 4 seat seesaw. This area is approximately 40x40 and will <br />include seating areas. Total equipment cost for this project is $92,672 with a total install price of <br />$119,194. <br /> <br />Flagship updated the concept of Option 3 since being presented to the Parks Commission to include <br />seating. The updated price of the project is $121,000 <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />Fiscal impacts are outlined in the 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). CIP items are <br />funded though the Parks Dedication Fund while Operations and Maintenance items are funded <br />through the Public Works Budget. The current CIP has $125,000 toward the playset.
