STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: 5/14/24 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Clark Schroeder Interim City Administrator <br />AGENDA ITEM: MPCA presentation and Q&A <br />REVIEWED BY: Clark Schroeder <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The MPCA has been working with the 3M trustees to facilitate treating <br />drinking water in the east metro that is contaminated with PFAS. The city of Lake Elmo has <br />been utilizing these grants to install and hook up various neighborhoods in the city water system. <br />In addition, we are using and applying for grants to design and construct treatment plants to treat <br />the water we deliver to residents. More information is listed on our website. City of Lake Elmo, <br />MN <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: This is a workshop with no decisions being made. <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Andri Dahlmeier, 3M Settlement technical coordinator <br />and Hanna Temme from AECOM will be giving a presentation and taking questions from council. <br />Randall Doneen Section manager conservation assistance and regulation from the DNR will be <br />available to answer questions also. <br /> <br />A little background the movement of PFAS in Lake is in this pdf. <br />3M Settlement Project 1007 Update (state.mn.us) <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: Discuss 3M settlement funds <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: MPCA PowerPoint.
