Provide a system of recreational facilities to meet the active and passive needs of residents • 2.1 - Provide a mix of recreational activities to meet a wide range of needs »2.1.1 - Look to add a special facility to meet the needs of tweens, teens, and young adults; consider a challenge-course facility, skate park, or disc golf course »2.1.2 - Look to provide additional court facilities in the southeast area of the city; engage with neighbors to determine type of court (tennis, pickleball, basketball, volleyball, or other) »2.1.3 - Look to provide additional field space in the southeast area of the city; engage with neighbors, clubs, and organizations to determine type and size of field (flex, lacrosse, football, soccer, etc.) • 2.2 - Provide places for larger group gatherings by providing higher amenity shelters at select community parks »2.2.1 - Look to develop a reservable shelter with potable water, electrical, and permanent restrooms • 2.3 - Distribute playgrounds or play features for children of all ages and abilities throughout the community, taking into consideration the needs and demographics of the surrounding neighborhood »2.3.1 - When replacing or adding new equipment, add play features designed for the following age ranges: * 6 to 24 months * 2 to 5 years * 5 to 12 years * Ages 13+ »2.3.2 - When replacing or adding new equipment, incorporate inclusive play features that are accessible to those using mobility devices Figure 5.10: A park challenge course is an active, fun way to engage tweens, teens, and young adults Figure 5.12: A park with inclusive playgrounds for children of all ages will attract visitors from throughout the community Figure 5.11: With the exception of Lions Park, the park system is currently lacking outdoor volleyball courts
