48 | VISION + GUIDING PRINCIPLES
VISION STATEMENT
It’s no secret that the urbanization of some
areas in Lake Elmo is happening and has
accelerated over the years. With a massive
boom in growth over the past decade,
preserving and improving Lake Elmo’s park
and trail system is of the utmost importance.
While the city has adequately maintained park
facilities and amenities thus far, they will need
to adapt their offerings and increase staff
support to satisfy the needs of residents in the
future.
In order to best plan for the future of Lake
Elmo’s park and trail system, the planning team
collaborated with a number of stakeholders,
including city staff, Advisory Committee
members, and the general public to develop a
unified community vision statement. It reads:
THE VISION
LAKE ELMO’S PARKS, TRAILS, AND
OPEN SPACES SHALL PROVIDE
CONVENIENT ACCESS TO A WIDE RANGE
OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL RESIDENTS
TO RECREATE AND CONNECT.
