Inflatable sign means a freestanding or moored sign expanded or inflated with air or another gas, like a
<br />balloon, and which may rise and float above the ground.

<br />Legal nonconforming sign means any sign which was lawfully erected and displayed on [city clerk to
<br />insert effective date], but which does not conform to the requirements and limitations herein, or any sign
<br />which was lawfully erected and displayed on the effective date of any amendment to this section, but
<br />which does not conform to such amendment. Said legal nonconforming sign may be continued
<br />through repair, replacement, restoration, maintenance, or improvement, but not including
<br />expansion. “Expansion” shall be defined as any structural alteration, change, or addition that is
<br />made outside of the original sign structure or sign area, including the addition of a dynamic
<br />display.
<br />
<br />Logo means a symbol or trademark commonly used to identify a business or organization.
<br />
<br />Memorial sign means a sign or tablet memorializing a person, event, place or structure.
<br />
<br />Menu sign means a permanent changeable copy sign associated with restaurants with drive-through
<br />windows, car washes, or other businesses with drive-up services which gives a detailed list of food or
<br />services available.
<br />
<br />Monument sign means a ground sign having a monolithic base or support structure of any material
<br />measuring no less than one-third (one-third) of the greatest width of the sign at any point.
<br />
<br />Noncommercial message means a message intended to direct attention to a political, social, community
<br />or public service issue or an idea, aim viewpoint, aspiration or purpose and not intended to produce any
<br />commercial benefit or tend to encourage a commercial transaction.
<br />
<br />Off-premises sign means a sign which displays any message directing attention to a business, product,
<br />service, profession, commodity, activity, event, person, institution or any other commercial message,
<br />which is generally conducted, sold, manufactured, produced, offered, or occurs elsewhere than on the lot
<br />where such sign is located.
<br />
<br />On-premises sign means a sign which displays any message directing attention to a business, product,
<br />service, profession, commodity, activity, event, person, institution or any other commercial message,
<br />which is generally conducted, sold, manufactured, produced, offered, or occurs on the same lot as the
<br />sign.
<br />
<br />Pennant means a tapered or dove-tailed banner or flag.
<br />
<br />Permanent, when used in reference to a sign, means that the sign is constructed of durable materials and
<br />intended to exist for an indefinite period of time or the duration of the time that the use or occupant is
<br />located on the premises and is generally, but not necessarily, affixed to the ground or structure. Unless
<br />the context clearly dictates otherwise, the term "permanent," in this definition, is not intended to mean
<br />literal permanence, but rather it is meant to distinguish such signs from more transient or temporary
<br />signage.
<br />
<br />Pole sign means a ground sign mounted upon a pole or pylon, or multiple poles or pylons, not meeting
<br />the definition of a monument sign.
<br />
<br />Portable sign means a type of temporary sign that is not permanently attached to the ground or a
<br />building or not designed to be permanently attached to the ground or a building, including, but not
<br />limited to, trailers or other vehicles that are used principally as a sign, posters, sandwich boards or other
