However, other primary facade colors <br />will be considered by the Review Authority. Ac- <br />cent materials shall complement the colors of <br />the primary facade. <br />Scale and Mass <br />Goal: To reduce the appearance of mass in the BP <br />district. <br />a.Scale should be reduced by utilizing “step- <br />down” methods, particularly near areas of pe- <br />destrian circulation. Entries and other bump <br />out features are effective in this regard. <br />b.Structures of two-stories or higher should uti- <br />lize facade treatments, such as multiple build- <br />ing materials or additional windows, to mini- <br />mize the appearance of mass. <br />Roof Design <br />Goal: To ensure architectural consideration and <br />consistency in roof design in relation to the archi- <br />tecture of the building, and to reduce the visual <br />impact of rooftop equipment. <br />a.The design of the roof must be consistent with <br />the overall architecture or design of the struc- <br />ture. <br />b.Parapets of varying heights are required for <br />buildings in the BP district with flat roofs. <br />c.Rooftop equipment, particularly on flat roofs, <br />must be screened by the parapet or other ar- <br />chitectural features. <br />Entries <br />Goal: To provide identifiable entryways that em- <br />phasize access, pedestrian safety, architectural <br />quality and a human scale. <br />a.Entryways to buildings in the BP district should <br />be accessible for pedestrians from the public <br />right of way. <br />b.Architectural features should be incorporated <br />into entryways, such as facade detailing or <br />prominent windows. <br />c.The use of canopies, awnings and other shel- <br />tering features are encouraged. <br />d.Pedestrian amenities such as ornamental <br />Parapets of varying height provide additional architectural detail that add aesthetic value. <br />High quality building materials are required for street-facing <br />facades.
