STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: November 6, 2024 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Lake Olson and Demontreville Grant Request <br />SUBMITTED BY: Nicole Miller, City Administrator <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Included in the 2024 budget were funds for matching grants to the recreational lakes for water <br />quality improvements like treating invasive species. This funding represents a 50% match, up to <br />the maximum amount of $5,000 per lake. A match is required by the Lake Associations and any <br />grant amounts received would not be included as part of the Lake Association match amounts. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Does Council approve the grant request from the Lake Olson and Demontreville Association? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL: <br />The Lake Olson and Demontreville Association has submitted an application for matching grant <br />funding to treat Eurasian Milfoil, Curly leaf pond weed, and Zebra Mussel monitoring, this <br />summer. A copy of their application is included in your packet. The grant request is for $5,000. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />$5,000 from the budgeted $15,000 for the city’s three recreational lakes (Olson, Demontreville, <br />Jane) <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br />1) Approve $5,000 for Lake Olson and Demontreville Association Eurasian Milfoil and Curly <br />leaf pond weed Treatment <br />2) Approve a different amount for Lake Olson and Demontreville Association Eurasian <br />Milfoil and Curly leaf pond weed Treatment <br />3) Do not approve any funding for Lake Olson and Demontreville Association Eurasian <br />Milfoil and Curly leaf pond weed Treatment <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />If removed from the consent agenda: <br />“Motion to approve the Lake Olson and Demontreville Association lake improvement grant <br />request of $5,000. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• Lake Olson and Demontreville Association requests <br />• 2024 Curlyleaf Pondweed Delineation report <br />• Invoices
