HOURS OF WORK #185

Exceptions must be approved by the supervisor or city administrator.

Departments with unique job or coverage requirements may have additional rules, issued by the
supervisor department head and subject to approval of the city administrator, on the use of meal breaks
and rest periods.

ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS
City facilities will generally be open during adverse weather. Due to individual circumstances, each
employee needs to evaluate the weather and road conditions in deciding to report to work (or leave early).
Employees not reporting to work for reasons of personal weather safety will not normally have their pay
reduced as a result of this absence.
Employees will be allowed to use accrued paid time off or compensatory time, or with supervisor
approval, may modify the work schedule or make other reasonable schedule adjustments.

Firefighters and public works maintenance employees will generally be required to report to work
regardless of conditions.

Decisions to cancel departmental programs (special events, recreation programs, etc.) will be made by
the respective department head supervisor or the city administrator.
