- Address any backfill position needs for POC officers and career firefighter/EMT <br />positions. Process would be internal to start. <br /> <br />Paid-On-Call Adjustments: <br />- Eliminate the POC rank of Captain. The rank of Lieutenant will be highest available rank <br />to POC firefighters as a promotable position with three available positions. <br />- Adjust the Engineer as a promotable position and only have three available positions <br />working under each POC Lieutenant. <br />- Adjust the rank of Engineer: this will allow staff a pay incentive as they commit to the <br />increased demands, training and operational requirements of this position. <br />- Add the rank of Firefighter-FAO : this position replaces the previous Engineer rate. This <br />will allow staff a pay incentive as they commit to the increased training and operational <br />requirements of this position. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Will Council support the addition of three new career captain positions and adjustments to the <br />paid-on-call pay structure within the fire department? <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />These updates are included in the 2026 budget for the Fire Department. These positions will be set <br />at Pay Grade 6 with a salary range of $90,089.20 - $121,035 annually (2,912 hours per year). <br />
