2571 <br /> Minnesota 2020 Standard Specifications 741 <br />(2) Submit a written scouting report to the Engineer via e-mail by the 1st <br />and 15th of each month during the growing season from April to <br />October and by the 1st of each month during the dormant season <br />from November to March. The Engineer will use the report-frequency <br />and content to assess plant establishment compliance. The report may <br />include scanned copies of the Plan sheets with the Contractor notes, <br />copies of the report form found in the current edition of the <br />ICAMMLP, or both. Include the following in the report: <br />(a) The Project number <br />(b) Engineer’s name <br />(c) Name of Contractor’s responsible scout or representative <br />(d) Dates Work was performed <br />(e) Work locations <br />(f) Work completed <br />(g) Prevailing weather conditions <br />(h) Soil moisture assessments <br />(i) Insect, animal, vehicular, weather, or other damage <br />(j) Disease problems <br />(k) Treatment recommendations <br />(l) Assessment of overall plant conditions including weed <br />competition and control <br />(3) Maintain soil moisture in accordance with the watering guidelines of <br />the Standard Plans shown on the Plans <br />(4) Repair, adjust, or replace staking and guying, planting soil, rodent <br />protection, seedling tree shelters, and other items in accordance with <br />the Plans <br />(5) Maintain healthy, vigorous plants; free of harmful insects, fungus, and <br />disease without the use of systemic insecticides such as <br />neonicotinoids <br />(6) Remove dead, dying, and unsightly plants. Provide and install <br />replacement plants in accordance with 2571.3K.2.b, “Replacement <br />Requirements” <br />(7) Maintain plants in a plumb condition at the planting depth shown on <br />the Standard Plans in the Plans <br />(8) Maintain planting areas in a weed-free condition as follows: <br />(a) Remove weeds, top growth, and roots within the mulch limits <br />by hand pulling. Pre-water mulched areas to ensure weed top <br />growth and roots are entirely removed. Ensure weeding <br />operations do not contaminate the mulch or Project with <br />weed seed, weed-laden soil, or propagating weed parts. <br />Remove State and County regulated noxious weeds to at least <br />5 feet beyond the mulch limits. Remove weed parts or <br />weed-laden Material from the Project to avoid the spread of <br />weed infestations <br />(b) Do not spray chemicals for weed control in mulched planting <br />areas during the PEP. The Contractor may apply a non- <br />selective, non-residual post-emergent herbicide containing <br />41 percent glyphosate, as the active ingredient with a <br />surfactant on a spot treatment basis with a brush or wick <br />applicator. The Contractor may also apply a broad-spectrum <br />SECTION 2571.2 K.2.A (2) NOT USED
