STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: January 16, 2024 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br /> <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Dustin Kalis, Fire Chief <br />AGENDA ITEM: Purchase CIP Project F-012 - Brush 2 Replacement - 2024 Chevrolet <br />Silverado 1500 <br />REVIEWED BY: Clark Schroeder, City Administrator <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Fire Department is requesting to purchase one pick-up truck and equipment as part of the <br />department’s vehicle replacement program. The 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Plan included <br />the replacement of Brush 2 (2002 Ford F350 Custom) in 2024. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Should the City Council approve the purchase of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Special <br />Service Vehicle as recommended by staff, as outlined in the 2024 Capital Improvement Plan? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: <br />Proceeding with this purchase will benefit the city and its citizens with a pickup utility vehicle to <br />provide crew response, support on emergency incidents and general department use. This vehicle <br />will provide the department with an additional vehicle that can be used for towing and hauling. <br />The open pickup bed will allow for the safe hauling of dirty, contaminated fire hose, equipment <br />and turnout gear following incidents. <br /> <br />The fire department replaces vehicles on a rotating basis based on each individual vehicles need. <br />The utility truck will be utilized by all fire department staff to respond to emergency incidents 24 <br />hours a day 365 days per year to provide critical response capabilities to our trail systems, off- <br />road and rural areas. This vehicle is expected to be in service for 12 – 15 years. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The cost of this vehicle and necessary equipment is not to exceed $67,320.00 and will be funded <br />through the vehicle replacement fund as identified in the 2024 CIP. <br />- 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Contract Price: $48,956.40 <br />- Emergency Lighting, Siren, Controls and Console: $15,500.00 <br />- Vehicle Graphics: $2,800.00 <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br />- Approve purchase of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. <br />- Do not approve purchase. <br /> <br />
