Winter 2022
2

Winter reminders from the Lake Elmo Public Works
Department
Please keep the following in mind this snow plowing season:
Place trash receptacles at the end of your driveway, not in the roadway
Vehicles should not be left parked on the street during snowfalls
Depending on the amount of snowfall, streets may be plowed several times
Mail boxes damaged during snow removal will be evaluated case by case. If it is damaged by City
equipment, public works will install a temporary post and will install a permanent post in the spring
Plowing snow across roadways is unlawful and against State Law. Accidents and damages caused
by snow piles left in the roadway may result in liability to the property owner.
Help shovel out fire hydrants near your homes. Keeping hydrants clear of snow can substantially
reduce the time it takes firefighters to put out a fire.
According to City Ordinances, homeowners are responsible for removing all snow and ice from
public side-walks in front of their homes within (48) hours after a snowfall. Failure to do so could
result in injury to the public as well as a violation of City ordinances
