Winter 2022
2

Winter reminders from the Lake Elmo Public Works
Department
Please keep the following in mind this snow plowing season:
 Place trash receptacles at the end of your driveway, not in the roadway
 Vehicles should not be left parked on the street during snowfalls
 Depending on the amount of snowfall, streets may be plowed several times
 Mail boxes damaged during snow removal will be evaluated case by case. If it is damaged by City
equipment, public works will install a temporary post and will install a permanent post in the spring
 Plowing snow across roadways is unlawful and against State Law. Accidents and damages caused
by snow piles left in the roadway may result in liability to the property owner.
 Help shovel out fire hydrants near your homes. Keeping hydrants clear of snow can substantially
reduce the time it takes firefighters to put out a fire.
 According to City Ordinances, homeowners are responsible for removing all snow and ice from
public side-walks in front of their homes within (48) hours after a snowfall. Failure to do so could
result in injury to the public as well as a violation of City ordinances
