<br />4 CITY OF LAKE ELMO, MN <br />According to the latest American Community Survey data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the City’s permanent <br />resident population is 13,756.4 The permanent population has grown by nearly 21.5% over the last 10 years. Most <br />Lake Elmo community members reside in owner-occupied housing. <br /> <br />About the Public Works Department <br />The City of Lake Elmo's Public Works Department manages the City's water and sewer systems, maintains roadways <br />and sidewalks, performs street sweeping, and oversees the City's infrastructure planning, design, construction, <br />operation, and maintenance. This includes streets, drinking water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems. <br />Additionally, the Public Works staff is responsible for maintaining parks, sidewalks, trails, and all City buildings and <br />vehicles. <br /> <br />A Public Works Director leads the Department, and the current Director undertook this role in 2019. The Assistant <br />Director oversees the Department's operations and maintains utility maintenance records and planning. According <br />to the City of Lake Elmo’s 2023 budget, the total staffing complement for the Department includes 11.0 full-time <br />equivalent (FTE) positions and operators who oversee parks, water, and sewer.
