STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: January 17, 2023 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Approve Change Order No. 1 for the Water Tower No. 3 Project (Logo Design) <br />SUBMITTED BY: Chad Isakson, Project Engineer <br />REVIEWED BY: Kristina Handt, City Administrator Marty Powers, Public Works Director <br /> Jack Griffin, City Engineer <br /> <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council approve Change Order No. 1 for Water Tower <br />No. 3 to revise the logo design and confirm the proposed logo placement on the water tower? <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Phoenix Fabricators & Erectors, LLC was awarded a construction contract on January <br />18, 2022 for the construction of Water Tower No. 3. Work remains in progress with a milestone 1 <br />completion date of November 18, 2022, milestone 2 completion date of March 31, 2023, milestone 3 <br />completion date of July 28, 2023, substantial completion date of October 13, 2023 and final completion <br />date of November 17, 2023. <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Construction will resume on the water tower in 2023 which will <br />include painting and erecting the steel top of the tower. The current approved plans include two painted city <br />logos being placed on the east and west side of the water tower. The logos would be visible to traffic <br />traveling east or west along I-94. Refer to Exhibit 1 for a visual of the logo and the logo orientation. <br /> <br />Staff is recommending the logo design be changed to match the existing water tower on Inwood Avenue. <br />The changes would include removal of the outer oval and words “The City of” seen in Exhibit 1. Refer to <br />Exhibit 2 for a visual of the proposed logo staff is recommending be painted on the new tower. Staff is also <br />recommending to keep the proposed orientation of the two logos to be on the east and west side of the <br />tower. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: None. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the City Council approve, as part of the Consent <br />Agenda, Change Order No. 1 for Water Tower No. 3 to revise the logo design. If removed from the consent <br />agenda, the recommended motion for the action is as follows: <br /> <br />“Move to approve Change Order No. 1 for Water Tower No. 3 to revise the logo design to be consistent <br />with the exiting Inwood Water Tower logo (as shown on Exhibit 2), and to confirm the orientation of <br />the logo to be placed per the approved plans, facing east and west along I-94”. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br /> <br />1. Exhibit 1 – Current Approved Logo / Orientation. <br />2. Exhibit 2 – Staff Recommended Logo.
