The estimated life of a street light and underground wiring is 25-30 years. The city may choose to replace fixtures and wiring via Xcel's Prepaid <br />program, which would again maintain the system for another 25 years. Estimated replacement is currently set at $10,000 per fixture, but additional work will need to be done to obtain final costs. A total of $3,200,000 (in 2025 <br />dollars) is needed over the next 25 years, an average of approximately $125,000 per year.
