WCAG 2.2
Web Content
Accessibility
Guidelines 2.2
.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Part of ADA
(Americans with Disabilities Act) Title II, defines how to make
web content more accessible to people with disabilities. WCAG
is based on four principles of web accessibility: perceivable,
operable, understandable, and robust.
Accessibility involves accommodating for a wide range of
disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech,
cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Compliance with these ADA rules extends to local, state, and
federal government municipalities and has compliance
deadlines broken down by population.
For Cities with 49,999 or more residents, compliance with all
web content must be completed by April 2026. For cities with
populations under 49,999, compliance must be completed by
April 2027.
As a small city, our deadline has been extended to 2027;
however, all municipalities must begin to show proof of
progress towards compliance now.
