Evaluating Applications/Quasi - <br />Judicial Acts <br />❑When evaluating a land use application, you are undertaking a “quasi -judicial” act. <br />A “quasi judicial act or decision” involves examining facts, applying a legal standard <br />to the facts, and rendering a decision <br />❑Examples of “quasi judicial decisions” include whether to approve a conditional use <br />permit application, whether to grant a variance, and whether to approve a <br />preliminary plat/subdivision <br />❑Before making a “quasi-judicial decision,” the City must provide the public with <br />notice of the proposed action along with an opportunity for the public to be heard <br />(public hearing). <br />❑A quasi-judicial decision must be made by an impartial decision-maker
