STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: 01/13/2026 <br />Discussion <br />TO: CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Interim Public Works Director – Adam Swanepoel <br />AGENDA ITEM: City Council and Parks Commission Joint Work Session <br />CORE STRATEGIES: <br />☐ Vibrant, inclusive, connected community ☒ Efficient, reliable, innovative services <br />☒ Responsive, transparent, adaptive governance ☐ Balanced Finances now and future <br />☐ Managed Growth ☐ Resilient Infrastructure <br />SUMMARY: <br />The intent of the Parks Commission and City Council Joint Workshop is to address the following <br />items; <br />1.Review of the 2026 Parks Commission Work Plan <br />2.Discuss any additional Parks Commission goals for 2026 <br />2026 Parks Commission Work Plan <br />The Public Works Department has updated the Parks Commission Work Plan for 2026. This was <br />presented to the Parks Commission on 11/17/2025. <br />-Review the upcoming neighborhood playground replacements and prioritize those based <br />off city councils’ recommendation to reduce playgrounds in neighborhood parks. <br />-Staff will work with city engineers in preparation and design for the reconstruction of the <br />parking lot and trails in Elmo’s Dog Park. <br />-Work with Flagship Recreation on the replacement of the Lions Park Playground. <br />-Obtain and select bids for the resurfacing of the hard surface courts in Demontreville, <br />Carriage and Tablyn Park. <br />-Make a priority list for future park pavilions and their location. <br />-Provide concepts and a plan for the Ridge Park Playground Replacement <br />- Review Tablyn Park Playground with priority list and identify need or removal. <br />-Provide options and implement a sound barrier for pickleball noise at Pebble Park <br />-Develop a master plan for the future of Lions Park. <br />ATTACHMENT: <br />2026 Parks Commission Work Plan
