Background <br />•Originally passed in May of 2023 <br />•Sets up job protections for paid time to care for self or family, <br />allow for new family bonding, or safety leave related to <br />domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking <br />•Program begins January 1, 2026 <br />•Legislature set aside $670 million for program start-up and it <br />will continue to be funded through employer premiums <br />•Option to have private party rather than the state plan <br />•Need to notify employees and have signed acknowledgement <br />by Dec 1, 2025
