Inwood 10 LLC
Project B14-08413
December 3, 2014
Page 5
the sand. Due to variations in site elevations, soil borings ST-3, ST-4, ST- 5, and ST-6 extended beyond
this elevation and water was not encountered.
In AET’s soil boring 1, water was encountered approximately 11 feet below the surface which
corresponds to an elevation of about 997.5. In their report, the water encountered was judged to be
water accumulating in fast draining soil layers above slower draining soil layers during wetter periods of
the year.
The elevations at which perched groundwater accumulates seasonally and annually will likely vary and
could be shallower/higher at the exploration locations and between the exploration locations.
Piezometers or monitoring wells would be required to confirm if groundwater was present within the
depths explored.
B.3.Laboratory Test Results
Selected soil samples were submitted to our laboratory for testing. The laboratory tests were completed
in general accordance with current ASTM procedures. The test results can be found on the Log of Boring
sheets opposite the soil sample tested.
Moisture content tests on selected granular soil samples generally ranged from 3 to 10 percent,
indicating the majority of the sandy soils tested were likely at or below their estimated optimum
moisture content. Moisture conditioning of granular soils may be needed to meet required densities if
used for fill or backfill. The moisture content test on the selected cohesive soil sample was 9 percent,
indicating the clayey soil tested was near its estimated optimum moisture content.
Our mechanical analyses (grain size accumulation curve) indicated the selected samples contained 9 to
34 percent silt and clay by weight and was used to classify the soil and may be used to estimate
infiltration or to evaluate the material for reuse on site.
C.Basis for Recommendations
We understand the project includes the construction of multiple buildings of the office/ warehouse style
common to business parks. At the time of this report, design loads, anticipated grades, and final locations
of structures have not been provided. Only conceptual aspects of the development were presented.
Aspects of the conceptual design include the construction of roadways separating the residential and
