Inwood 10 LLC
Project B14-08413
December 3, 2014
Page 7
In areas where clays would comprise a majority of the fill where grades are raised or where there are
significant grade raises placed upon clay, the thickness of clay placed may need to be restricted to limit
the amount of post-construction settlement which occurs from the excavation backfill compressing
under its own weight. Usually fills on the order of 5 to 10 feet can be accommodated within a
construction schedule provided the transition is gradual.
Once the final design, grades, and locations of each structure are determined, our evaluation should be
finalized. This final evaluation may revise or provide additional recommendations and may include
additional field exploration utilizing soil borings or test pits.
D.1.Site Grading and Building Pad Preparation
D.1.a.Excavations
To prepare the building pads, encountered organic topsoil, very loose sands, and soft clays should be
removed and replaced. The following tabulation outlines the anticipated depths needed at the boring
locations to remove the topsoil and possible loose or soft soils.
Table 1.
