Planning Commission Meeting Minutes: 5-11-26 <br /> <br />City of Lake Elmo Planning Commission <br />Meeting City Council Chambers – 3880 Laverne <br />Avenue North Minutes of Regular Meeting of <br />May 11th, 2026 <br />CALL TO ORDER: Commission Chair Rehkamp called to order the meeting of the Lake Elmo Planning Commission at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Amend, Chars, Dunn, Rasmussen, Rehkamp <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Vrieze, Sarro <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Senior City Planner Sophia Jensen, Planning Assistant Miranda Moulis <br /> <br />Pledge of Allegiance at 6:30 PM <br /> <br />Approve Agenda: <br />M/S/P: Chars / Dunn made a motion to approve the agenda Vote: 5-0, motion carried unanimously <br /> <br />Approve Minutes: <br />M/S/P: Chars / Amend made a motion to approve the 4-13-26 meeting minutes. Vote: 5-0, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Public Hearing: <br />a. 9960 57th St N – Variance: Rick Egersdorf and Olson Construction have submitted a variance request for the <br />property located at 9960 57th St (PID 03.029.21.14.0002). The request would be LEC 105.12.670(c) which requires <br />an accessory structure to be set behind the front line of the house. The applicant is proposing to construct a new <br />detached accessory building in the Southeast corner of the property nearer the roadway. <br /> <br /> Planning Assistant Miranda Moulis gave presentation and answered questions. <br /> M/S/P: Dunn / Chars moved to open the public hearing at 6:40 PM. Vote: 5-0, motion carried unanimously. <br /> Public Comments: <br /> Email comment from Steve & Joan Ziertman: 5761 Keats Ave N, stated they were in support of this variance. Email was read <br /> into record, <br /> <br />M/S/P: Amend/ Chars moved to close the public hearing at 6:42 PM. 5-0, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />M/S/P: Chars / Amend moved to recommend approval of a variance request to reduce accessory structure front yard setback <br />requirement to 98.7 feet in the Residential Estate Zoning district for the property located at 9960 57th St N with the conditions <br />of approval and findings of fact listed in the staff report. 5-0, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Public Hearing: <br />a. 8650 Hudson Blvd N Lake Elmo Medical Center - Conditional Use Permit and Variance: Lake Elmo Medical Center LLC <br />has submitted a conditional use permit request for a medical facility expansion in the Business Park zoning district. The <br />property is located at 8650 Hudson Blvd N (PID 33.029.21.44.0007). This request would include a building and parking <br />lot expansion. A variance is required for deviations to the Business Park Zoning district setback requirements. <br /> <br /> Planning Assistant Miranda Moulis gave presentation and answered questions. <br />M/S/P: Chars / Amend moved to open the public hearing at 6:56 PM.
