CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION 97 -42 <br />A .RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ENTER INTO THE CONSOLIDATION <br />STUDY PROCESS WITH THE TOWN OF BAYTOWN AS OUTLINED BY THE <br />MINNESOTA BOARD OF GOVERNMENT INNOVATION AND COOPERATION <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo and the Town of Baytown have indicated an interest <br />in exploring consolidation to prevent the urbanization of the two communities, both which have a <br />strong desire to remain. rural in character and to provide for non - sewered development; and <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 465.81 through 465.87 provides for the consolidation of <br />municipalities; and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Board of Innovation and Cooperation empowers local <br />government officials to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery and provides <br />incentives for innovation and cooperation through the development of plan to merge into a single <br />unit of government. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lake Elmo City Council commits the <br />City to begin formal discussions with the Town of Baytown for consolidation of the City and the <br />Town pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 465.8I through 465.87 AND the City commits to reaching <br />an approved plan with the Town of Baytown for the approval of the Minnesota Board of <br />Government Innovation and Cooperation. <br />Adopted by the Lake Elmo City Council this 5h day of August 1997. <br />Wyn Jo nyIa�w -�"' <br />Attest: <br />i <br />Mary: K�er, City k/Adkinistrator <br />
