City of Lake Elmo <br />Washington County, Minnesota <br />Resolution 2002 - 080 <br />A Resolution Initiating Level 1 of the <br />City's Water Conservation flan <br />WHEREAS, Section 600.20 of the Lake Elmo Municipal Code states as follow; <br />Restrictions Caused. by Water Shortage: Whenever the Council determines that a <br />shortage of water supply threatens the City, it may, by resolution, limit the times and <br />hours during which water may be used from the water system for lawn and garden <br />sprinkling, irrigation, car washing, and other uses specified in the resolution. Notice of <br />the limitation shall immediately be mailed to each water Consumer. Two days after the <br />mailing of the notice, any water consumer who shall cause or permit water to be used in <br />violation of the provisions of the notice shall be charged a fee as set forth from time to <br />time by Council resolution for each day of the violation. The charge shall be added to <br />the water consumer's next water bill. Continued violation is prohibited and shall be <br />cause for discontinuance of water service. <br />WHEREAS, Daily Water Use at 10% to 50% (72,000 - 360,000 gpd) of Water Supply Capacity <br />reached 250,000 gpd on July 1, 2002, which triggers a Demand for Reduction Level 1, <br />considered to be a Moderate Emergency Condition. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lake Eh-no City Council hereby <br />initiates a Odd; Even Sprinkling Ban, which means that the non - essential use of water, <br />including lawn sprinkling, vehicle washing, golf course and park irrigation, are permitted only <br />on even number days if your address ends with an even number, and only on odd numbered <br />days if your address ends with an odd number. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that new sod o seed will be exem t om this waterin <br />ban for a period not to exceed two weeks provided the property owner obtain a permit from <br />the Citv. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that adoption of this resolution repays Resolution 2002 - <br />6l adopted on July 2. 2002. <br />Adopted by the Lake Elmo City Council this 6th day of August, 2002 <br />�_�. —.�'e elf- �""^ -• <br />Lee Hunt, Mayor <br />Attest: <br />Mary uefft, City Ad istrator <br />
