City of Lake Elmo <br />Washington County, Minnesota <br />Resolution 2002- 061 <br />A resolution Initiating Level 1 of the <br />City's Water Conservation Plan <br />WHEREAS, Section 600.20 of the Lake Elmo Municipal Code states as follow: <br />Restrictions_ Caused by Water Shortage: Whenever the Council determines that a <br />shortage of water supply threatens the City, it may, by resolution, limit the times and <br />hours during which water may be used from the water system for lawn and garden <br />sprinkling, irrigation, car washing, and other uses specified in the resolution. Notice of <br />the limitation shall, immediately be mailed to each water Consumer. Two days after the <br />mailing of the notice, any water consumer who shall cause or permit water to be used in <br />violation of the provisions of the notice shall be charged a fee as set forth from time to <br />time by Council resolution for each day of the violation. The charge shall be added to <br />the water consumer's next water bill. Continued violation is prohibited and shall be <br />cause for discontinuance of water service.' <br />WHEREAS, Daily Water Use at 10% to 50% (72,000 - 360,000 gpd) of Water Supply Capacity <br />reached 250,000 gpd on July 1, 2002, which triggers a Demand for Reduction Level 1, <br />considered to be a Moderate Emergency Condition. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lake Elmo City Council hereby <br />initiates a Odd /Even Sprinkling Ban, which ineans that the non - essential use of water, <br />including lawn sprinkling, vehicle washing, golf course and park .irrigation, are permitted only <br />on even number days if your address ends with an even number, and only on odd numbered <br />days if your address ends with an odd number. <br />Adopted by the Lake Elmo City Council this 2nd day of July, 2002. <br />Lee Hunt, Mayor <br />Attest: <br />PP, CC�` <br />Mary ueffn City Administrator <br />'`1�s <br />
