CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION 2003- 064 <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN AD HOC LAKE ELMO COMMUNITY <br />IMPROVEMENT COMMISSION <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo currently has a Planning Commission, a Civil <br />Defense Agency, a Parks Commission and a Heritage Preservation Commission <br />("Standing Committees"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo City Council has determined that it would be <br />beneficial for the Council to obtain advice and recommendations on matters that are not <br />currently assigned to one of its Standing Committees for review; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo City Council prefers to create and monitor the <br />effectiveness of such an ad hoc committee before creating another Standing <br />Commitment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lake Elmo City Council hereby <br />establishes an ad hoc Lake Elmo community improvement commission subject to the <br />following regulations: <br />1. Name. The commission shall be entitled "The Lake Elmo Ad Hoc <br />Community Improvement Commission" (herein, the "Commission"). <br />2. Members. The Commission shall be comprised of I ­7 <br />members, <br />who shall be appointed by majority vote of the Lake Elmo City Council. <br />The Commission shall select a chairperson from among its membership, <br />3. Term. The Commission shall continue until terminated by City Council <br />Resolution and members of the Commission shall serve at the will and <br />consent of the City Council, but shall normally be appointed for terms of <br />two (2) years. <br />4. Duties. The Commission shall investigate, make findings and <br />recommendations on matters referred to it by the City Council, including, <br />but not limited to, the following: <br />(a) Law enforcement; <br />(b) Youth activities; <br />(c) Prevention of drug sales and usage; <br />(d) Chronic traffic problems; and <br />(e) Personal safety concerns. <br />
