CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION NO 2004-074 <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEES <br />WHEREAS, the City Administrator has recommended that the City Council consider <br />establishing the following permanent City Council Committees; <br />1. Public Health and Safety <br />2. Public Works <br />3. Finance, Legal, Legislative and Personnel <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the City Council Committees is to develop ongoing <br />scheduled Council work sessions in specific subject areas, where each of the established <br />ad hoc committees created by Council may report progress on tasks and make <br />recommendations that can be reviewed by the established Council Committee. <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission will continue to report its decisions, findings, <br />and recommendations directly to the entire Council. <br />WHEREAS, the City Administrator has recommended the following in regard to each <br />City Council Committee <br />1. That the selection and makeup of Council Committee members will be approved <br />by the full City Council. The Council will indicate their interest in a specific <br />committee by submittal of their name to the Mayor. <br />2. That a Chairperson will be appointed, with the majority approval of the full City <br />Council, for a term of 1 year. <br />3. That each City Council Committee be comprised of two Council Members, the <br />Mayor, and the City Administrator or staff designee. <br />4. That the City Administrator and Mayor be ex- officio members of each City <br />Council Committee <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the <br />creation of the City Council Committees; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Administrator be directed to draft and <br />present the legislation necessary to implement such council action; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that such legislation define the specific duties of <br />each permanent City Council Committee. <br />
