CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION NO, 2005-079 <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING the Lake Elmo BRANCH <br />OF WASHINGTON COUNTY LIBRARY <br />WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo Branch of the Washington County Library closed <br />approximately two (2) years ago due to the physical condition of the property; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo City Council has determined that it would be in the <br />best interest of the community to have the Lake Elmo Branch of the Washington <br />County Library reopened; and <br />WHEREAS, Washington County has stated their intent and desire to reopen the <br />Lake Elmo Branch of the Library System; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has been informed that Washington County has <br />negotiated a five (5) year tease with the owner of the building for the purpose of <br />reopening the library (the "Project") and has authorized the expenditure of <br />$60,000.00 toward the Project; and <br />WHEREAS, Washington County has informed the Lake Elmo City Council that an <br />Z) <br />additional $30,000.00 will be necessary in order to complete the Project and enter <br />into the lease referred to above. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lake Elmo City Council hereby: <br />1. The Lake Elmo City Council hereby authorizes the issuance of a payment in the <br />amount of $30,000,00, payable to Washington County upon the condition that <br />Washington County will authorize the funds necessary in order to complete the <br />Project, enter into a five (5) year lease with the owner of the building and <br />reopen the operations of the Lake Elmo Branch. <br />2. The Lake Elmo City Council agrees not to "OPT OUT" of the Washington County <br />Library System during the five year term of the lease described above. <br />3. The Lake Elmo City Council agrees to plan for the future space needs of the <br />Lake Elmo Library Branch at the termination of the proposed lease in the <br />building location presently used for city administration operations. <br />4. The City staff is hereby authorized and directed to take the necessary steps in <br />order to affect the intent of this Resolution. <br />
