CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007 -035 <br />WHEREAS The City of lake Elmo agreed in May 2002 to allow Tubman Family Alliance <br />to buy City property for a 3o- person, safe - shelter for women and children leaving <br />abusive homes, for a period of time sufficient to acquire a permanent east -metro <br />residential and support service site; and, <br />WHEREAS the City of Lake Elmo has found Hill Home and Tubman Family Alliance, <br />the agency, to be excellent neighbors and citizens in serving our residents, managing the <br />property, working with City inspectors, and participating as one of our St Croix United <br />Way agencies; and <br />WHEREAS Tubman's legal services division residing in the Brookfield Building II, <br />immediately behind Lake Elmo City Hall, is also an effective community service and <br />excellent neighbor; and, <br />WHEREAS the agency has been a good community business partner using Lake Elmo <br />Bank, Lake Elmo Oil, Fury Dodge to lease vehicles, and staff enjoys Gorman's <br />restaurant, Hagberg's and Lake Elmo Inn; and., <br />WHEREAS Lake Elmo residents serve on Tubman's staff, board and as volunteers; and, <br />WHEREAS Tubman Family Alliance has been a primary aid and service provider to the <br />families in Lake Elmo's HomeTown American Cimarron as well as a partner in service to <br />the Washington County Sheriffs Department; <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City of Lake EImo <br />recommend. that Tubman Family Alliance be recognized for its effective work in building <br />healthy families in our City, in working in partnership with our public services, in <br />building healthy communities, and in engaging with other Lake Elmo businesses to <br />make a stronger, effective economy where we live and work; and <br />FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, with regret, we wish to recommend to the City of <br />Maplewood, the approval of the proposed Planned Use Development, bringing Tubman <br />Family Alliance to your community, as a Iocally and nationally recognized human <br />service agency, dedicated to serving citizens while providing exceptional education in <br />violence prevention, building healthy families, and working in partnership with leaders <br />to strengthen and establish strong communities. <br />�` 7t .� `T0 µy Ie City of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, City <br />Council. <br />VE Eli's z h �f�AnfMay 20 0 � �e_�..�.__._. _ <br />So sayeth: As signed and attested to by <br />The Honorable Mayor, Dean Johnson and Council Members <br />
