CITY OF LAKE EL MO <br />Washington County,, Minnesota <br />Resolution No. 2009-026 <br />A Resolution to support applications made to the Minnesota Department of Natural <br />Resources Metro Greenways grant. program for a restoration grant and <br />conservation planning grant for Sunfish Lake Park® <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo recognizes Sunfish Lake Park as a beloved oasis with <br />significant natural features, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo recognizes that Sunfish Lake Park is an area with <br />wetland, woodland, and grassland communities that have become degraded over time <br />I WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo is committed to the conservation, preservation, <br />protection, management, and restoration of its valued natural resources, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo supports the restoration of an approximate twenty <br />(20) acre parcel of Sunfish Lake Park, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo supports the development of a natural resource <br />management plan for Sunfish Lake Park, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Lake Elmo supports application to <br />the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Metro Greenways grant program for a <br />restoration grant to restore a prairie at Sunfish Lake Park and supports application to the <br />Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Metro Greenways grant program for a conservation <br />planning grant for the development of a natural resource management plan for Sunfish Lake Park. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo commits to a <br />fifty (50) percent match to the restoration grant and twenty-five (25) percent match to the <br />conservation planning grant. <br />Sharon Lumby, City Clerk <br />
