LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> AUGUST 2, 2016 <br /> <br /> <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br />Councilmember Bloyer, seconded by Mayor Pearson, moved TO APPROVE THE SPECIAL <br />EVENT PERMIT FOR HUFF N’ PUFF DAYS WITH THE CONDITIONS OUTLINED IN <br />THE STAFF REPORT. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lundgren, seconded by Councilmember Fliflet, moved TO AMEND THE <br />PRIMARY MOTION TO ADD THAT THE CITY WILL PAY FOR THE COST OF <br />SHERIFF DEPUTIES FOR HUFF N’ PUFF DAYS. Motion passed 3 – 2. (Pearson, <br />Bloyer – nay). <br /> <br />Primary motion passed as amended 3 – 2. (Pearson, Bloyer – nay) <br /> <br />ITEM 9: Downtown Phase 2 Street, Drainage and Utility Improvements – Approve <br />Change Order No. 2 – Replacement of the 57” Storm Sewer Arch Pipe <br /> <br />Councilmember Fliflet stated that the Library Board was not aware of this project and has plans <br />for work to be done in this area. Councilmember Fliflet added that the Library Board would be <br />interested in coordinating with the City project to look for cost savings. <br /> <br />Councilmember Fliflet, seconded by Councilmember Smith, moved TO APPROVE THE <br />CHANGE ORDER AND ADD CONDITIONS THAT THE LIBRARY BOARD BE <br />NOTIFIED AND STAFF WORK WITH THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR AND CONTRACTOR <br />TO ATTEMPT TO COORDINATE PROJECTS FOR COST SAVING OPPORTUNITIES. <br />Motion passed 5 – 0. <br /> <br />COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />Mayor Pearson: Asked residents watching the meeting to support downtown businesses and <br />reported on attending a meeting with Met Council and legislators. <br /> <br />Councilmember Fliflet: Attended picnic at the Gun Club, individual meetings with residents <br />and attended other meetings. <br /> <br />Councilmember Smith: Attended Oakdale Gun Club dinner and encouraged the public to visit <br />the facility. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lundgren: Asked the public to support the Lake Elmo Farmers Market on <br />Saturday mornings, 8:00 – 11:30 a.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bloyer: No report. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />Administrator Handt: Thanked the public for their support and donations for the military <br />family coordinated by Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. Attended the Lake Elmo swim pond ribbon <br />cutting, working on the Sunfish Lake Park nature center, attended Washington County <br />Administrators meeting and noted that the City will need to update its septic ordinance, met with <br />Local 49ers representatives. <br />
