<br /> Approved Minutes: December 9, 2008 <br />City of Lake Elmo <br />City Council Minutes <br />Special City Council Meeting <br />December 3, 2008 <br /> <br />INTERVIEW CANDIDATES FOR INTERIM CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br /> <br />Mayor Johnston called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Johnston, Council Members DeLapp, Johnson, Park, Smith and Council <br />Member-elect Emmons <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA: <br /> <br />MOTION: Council Member Johnson moved to approve the Special City Council Meeting <br />agenda as presented. Council Member Smith seconded the motion. Mayor Johnston and <br />Council Members Johnson, Park, Smith voted in favor of the motion and Council <br />Member DeLapp voted against the motion. <br /> <br />The City Council reviewed the 15 interview questions that were presented and shortened <br />the list to six questions. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council Member Johnson moved to approve Interview Questions 1, 2, 3, 7, <br />10, 11. Mayor Johnston seconded the motion. Mayor Johnston and Council Members <br />DeLapp, Park voted for the motion and Council Members Johnson and Smith voted <br />against the motion. <br /> <br />The City Council interviewed the following Interim City Administrator candidates: <br /> <br />Jim Norman Craig Dawson <br />Pat Klaers Dan Donahue <br />Todd Bodem <br /> <br />The Council discussed the merits of hiring an applicant who wanted to serve as an <br />Interim City Administrator for a term of four to six months versus an applicant that <br />desired the long-term city administrator position. There was Council discussion on the <br />candidates’ qualifications. <br /> <br />MOTION: Mayor Johnston moved to authorize the Mayor to offer the position of Interim <br />City Administrator to Crag Dawson, conditioned upon a satisfactory report on <br />background checks from the Human Resources attorney and to negotiate an employment <br />agreement as soon as possible. Council Member Park seconded the motion. The motion <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:21 p.m. <br />Respectfully submitted by Sharon Lumby, City Clerk
